Things to Consider in Clear Aligner Treatment
-
Make sure your clear aligners are properly seated before making contact with your teeth. Otherwise, cracks and breaks may occur in the aligners.
-
When removing your aligners, gently apply force by inserting your fingernail between the gum line and the edge of the aligner on both the right and left sides.
-
Wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day, except during meals and tooth brushing.
-
You can drink beverages that are not hot while wearing your clear aligners. Hot beverages can alter the shape of the aligner, so they are not recommended. You may leave your aligners in while consuming soft foods during snacks.
-
After eating, brush your teeth and then reinsert your aligners to prevent staining and odor.
-
Yellowing may occur from smoking while wearing your aligners. However, since the aligners are replaced every 5-7 days, this will not be a serious issue.
-
You can clean your aligners with a toothbrush that is not used for your teeth, applying a small amount of toothpaste under cold water.
-
Your speech may be slightly affected during the first week of wearing clear aligners, but it will improve over time. A slight discomfort due to pressure from the aligners in your mouth during the initial phase is normal. This discomfort will not persist.
-
If your aligner breaks or you lose it, you can move on to the next one. If you don't have another aligner, you can wear the previous one until your next appointment.
-
Do not wear your aligners for less time than prescribed. When your current aligners run out, continue using the last aligner until your next appointment with us.
-
After your treatment ends, do not throw away your aligners. Store the expired aligner in the clear aligner bag provided, paying attention to the number on the bag.
-
After changing your aligners, for the first 2 days, perform the chewing exercises given by your doctor, 2-3 times a day, with the chewies provided.
-
If any attachments placed on your teeth fall off during the initial phase of treatment, it is not an emergency. You can inform your doctor during your scheduled appointment.
-
Your aligners are made of polyurethane, which consists of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and 1,6 hexanediol. They do not contain Bisphenol-A or phthalates, substances found in baby bottles and PET bottles, which are banned in Canada, the USA, and the European Union due to health concerns. Therefore, you can use your clear aligners safely
